About

Can Do Martial Arts was founded in 2004 by Ben Richardson and his wife Virginia, in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. In 2021 they relocated to the Lake District and formed Can Do Martial Arts Cumbria.

Can Do Martial Arts has always been concerned with two things, making martial arts accessible to everyone, and ensuring that the highest level of tuition and positive student experience is always given.

We currently offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith, and will be the only JKS Shotokan Karate academy in the county too soon, ensuring direct learning from Japan.

There is always a free trial available for anyone wanting to try out our classes and get a feel for our amazing community
